Who are we?
Our writers, Ellen and Saul, are tropical homesteaders who have a combined 10+ years of experience prepping. Other than prepping, they are educators, herbalists, and fans of economics, history, and wilderness survival. Whenever possible, they like to layer their other interests into prepping and homesteading, helping to add context and insight into relevant articles. In fact, part of the reason they became preppers was that they saw history repeating itself.
When writing articles, we occasionally solicit information from expert friends and contacts to develop better articles and share practical advice. Relying on experts helps provide the best content to our readers.
Why we Started Soulful Prepper
We want to help preppers embrace a natural and vibrant lifestyle. Modern-day conveniences are harmful to our physical and mental health. Fluorescent lighting, industrial foods, and mass media are making us physically weak, emotionally volatile, and perpetually angry, causing us to find external forms of happiness when we should be focusing internally on finding peace.
Fortunately, there is an alternative path. We can actively make informed decisions to make the life we seek. A life that is low-stress and provides more meaningful daily interactions with people, nature, and ourselves. When life is more meaningful, every interaction is experienced more vividly, bringing more joy into our lives. To us, this means Living with Vitality.
If we collectively work to normalize homesteading, eating whole foods, and spirituality, more people would embrace back be eager to return to nature. It may seem like going against the grain, but humans came from nature, and it can be argued we are not meant to live in dense cities, cramped apartments, and be stuck in traffic. To return to where we will derive peace of mind and happiness. To close on a quote from Henry David Thoreau that captures life in nature,
“We can never have enough of nature. We must be refreshed by the sight of inexhaustible vigor, vast and titanic features, the sea-coast with its wrecks, the wilderness with its living and its decaying trees, the thunder-cloud and the rain.”
